Edits made to the landing page for the product designer of Handshake.

Discovery Phase: to make edits to the landing page, it was essential to understand our user personas. Empathizing with the freelancer and business owner helped us better establish the voice and tone needed for the landing page:

  • Kelly is a tech-savvy, 24 year old interested working as a part time freelancer. She has some misgivings on the legality and complexity of working as a freelancer.

  • Tom is a 62 year old business owner, used to hiring subcontractors.

  • He likes to keep track of a project’s progress but doesn’t like face to face interactions.

  • Far to wordy with numerous grammatical errors.

  • Headline is incongruous with Handshake voice and tone without telling users what the app can do for them.

  • Headline now tells users a little more about what Handshake is and how it will make their life awesome.

  • Sentences are more succinct, parsed down to essential information.

  • Simple CTA lets users know exactly what will happens next.

  • Visual hierarchy is easy on the eyes and easily scannable.

  • Headline is even clearer in explaining Handshake’s benefits.
